A Sunshine Coast man has rescued a father and young son from a dangerous rip using a beer keg.

Rescuer Matthew Neale told Dean Miller on 4BC Afternoons, “I was just doing my job.”

“I walked down the beach and thought I might get a bit of practice in doing our beach assessment, and over in the distance, I see a fella waving his arm. I thought struth, this is on me,” Mr Neale continued.
