The Queensland government has announced the Queensland check-in app will start being phased out.

Queenslanders are no longer required to check-in at businesses where vaccine mandates don’t apply, such as supermarkets, gyms, retail and hairdressers.

You will still need it to display your vaccine status and check-in at pubs, restaurants and cafes.

Publican at the Port Office Hotel, Nick Gregorski, said they were excited initially by the news, although for now they are still mandatory for venues.

“The biggest thing I know talking to a lot of publicans, is confidence always happens when there’s a plan,” he told Scott Emerson.

“So when there’s a date in mind, so for the unvaccinated, or when we get out of the app stage, that will create confidence as well.
