Two massive, shallow earthquakes struck Venezuela during a national holiday evening, leaving entire apartment buildings flat on the ground and hundreds confirmed dead or injured.

With estimates suggesting the death toll could surpass 10,000, international teams – including US aerial assets and search crews – are mobilising to assist the country’s overwhelmed emergency services.
