Queensland businesses are feeling the hit to their back pocket amid rising labour costs and soaring power bills.

Yesterday, Neil Breen spoke to a small business owner who copped a huge power bill and decided to change providers, only to be slugged with a significant rise.

Policy and advocacy managerĀ  from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Queensland, Cherie Josephson, said rising operating costs are being felt across the board.

“We’ve heard in our latest survey … that operating costs in general for Queensland businesses are a record highs, and it’s been climbing up very single quarter for the last year or so,” she told Neil Breen.

“But we do know increasing fuel prices, increasing electricity and gas prices are absolutely playing a role in those rising operating costs.”
