Tougher sentences for child killers in Queensland
A 12 month review of sentencing for child killers in Queensland has found they are inadequate and do not meet community expectations.
The Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council found that on average a person convicted of a child’s manslaughter spends less time in the jail than someone who kills an adult.
State Attorney General Yvette D’Ath tells Mark the government will adopt all recommendations from the QSAC report and ensure child killers face some of the toughest penalties in the country.
