Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi announce a common roadmap on future mobility

The world of motoring is changing as we head towards electrification with Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi this week announcing a common roadmap into the future.
The trio’s aim to enhance usage of common platforms to reach 80 percent by 2026 – the group to invest $Aud36.5 billion in the next five years to support its strategy offensive in electrification. Nissan took a controlling interest in Mitsubishi in 2016, and with Renault owning a large slice of Nissan, the three car makers intending to collaborate with 35 new EV cars in 2030 based on five common EV platforms.
Nissan will lead development of breakthrough all-solid state battery technology to benefit the trio while Renault will lead development on common centralized electrical and electronic architecture, with the launch of the first full software defined vehicle by 2025.
Mitsubishi Motors will also reinforce its presence in Europe with two new models based on Renault best-sellers.
