QLD breakthrough to improve life for MS sufferers

Researchers at Brisbane’s QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute have successfully trialled a new treatment that promises to greatly improve the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis.

 

It’s the first time in the world that T cell immunotherapy had been used to treat not just MS but any autoimmune disease.

The new approach was based on a theory put forward by Prof Michael Pender from the UQ and he tells Mark it’s taken 15 years to get to this point but there’s more work to do.
