NRL CEO confirms preference is to play State of Origin Game III in NSW

Continuous Call Team

There’s a good chance State of Origin Game III will be played in NSW.

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo told The Continuous Call Team that “the default position is to play Game III in NSW”.

Playing in front of a possible 30,000 strong crowd will be good outcome for the game according to the NRL boss.

Mr Abdo confirmed there’s been interest from all states, however the NRL are working with the NSW Government to see how the latest restrictions will allow the game to take place in NSW.

He’s also revealed that the NRL and QRL take full responsibility for the confusion with Ronaldo Mulitalo’s eligibility to play State of Origin for Queensland.

“I spoke with Ronaldo personally on what was a very tough day yesterday” says Abdo.

“It’s been a difficult situation and still is”.

Despite the disagreement on the eligibility rules for State of Origin, the rules are the rules, and the NRL had to stick with them.
