Audi accelerating transformation to a full electric future.

David Berthon

A positive move to a carbon neutral future was confirmed by Audi this week. Beginning in 2026 Audi will only release models that are powered purely by electricity. Living up to its well-advertised Vorsprung durch Technick slogan – ‘Progress through Technology’, Audi will end combustion engine production in 2033 with its aim to be a net-zero carbon emissions company by no later than 2050.

By 2025 it plans to offer more than 20 fully electric battery-driven cars, at the same time reducing the ecological footprint of its fleet, specifically, by 30 percent compared to 2015. Its central goal is to make production carbon neutral by 2025 with a focus on all of its processes – the sourcing of raw materials and production itself but also the utilization phase and recycling at the end of a car’s life cycle. The company calling for an expansion of renewable energies – insisting its high-voltage battery cells have to be produced with green electricity.
