Marathon runner’s incredible rescue after breaking his leg on secluded track

An ultra-marathon enthusiast found himself stranded for hours after breaking his leg on rocky, wet terrain near a rainfall on the Sunshine Coast.
Ben Green, 36, had been running on a trial last month between Baroon Pocket and the Kondalilla Falls, about 40km west of Mooloolaba.
He tripped, snapping his femur.
The track, normally busy and popular, was quiet on the cold September day, and the rain was pouring.
With no reception, he waited two hours for someone to find him and send for help, and four and a half hours later, an ambulance came.
Seven hours after it happened, he was on his way to hospital.
“I was by myself,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.
“Actually initially when it first happened, I knew it was bad, but the pain wasn’t horrendous, and I was feeling a bit optimistic after about 45 minutes I started getting really cold.”
Three fire trucks and four ambulances were called to his rescue.
A grateful Ben met with the fire crews who helped bring him to safety.
With a huge metal rod in his leg now, he joked he’s half’-Terminator!
