Fatality Free Friday’s message even more important in 2022

Scott Emerson

With 128 lives already lost on Queensland’s roads this year, road safety advocates are pushing for a Fatality Free Day.

The national day of action is in its 15th year.

It comes as research shows two thirds of Queensland drivers admit to speeding, and more than a third drive fatigued.

Chief executive of the Australian Road Safety Foundation Russell White says the risk is “ever-present” and there is always an element of disaster.

“It’s very disappointing … they are fundamentals in terms of road safety.”
