‘Wrong and sloppy’: Premier forced to withdraw quip on MP’s Instagram photo

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been forced to withdraw a quip she made about a Liberal MP’s social media post which included a photo with a number of Gold Coast women.
On Wednesday night Liberal MPs John-Paul Langbroek and Sam O’Connor toured parliament with three women, among them a prominent entrepreneur.
Mr Langbroek then shared photos on Instagram with the caption: “When the #TheFabulousGoldie girls come to @queenslandparliament #LocalMPs.”
The next day in the chamber the Premier said she “enjoyed I enjoyed looking at the member’s photos he posted this morning of his little late night rendezvous … on the Speaker’s chair” in an exchange with Mr Langbroek.
She immediately withdrew the comments.
One of the women caught up in the saga, Gold Coast based entrepeneur, Tamika Smith, was there to hear a speech from Mr O’Connor about some of the work she has done in the area of social and affordable housing.
He also mentioned her involvement in the house being built for Gold Coast mother Kelly Wilkinson’s children, with construction starting yesterday.
“It was quite a big day and then Sam said love you to come .. and listened to the speech, it was quite special to be in parliament house for the experience,” Ms Smith told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.
She said it had been an “interesting 24 hours” but she remained focused on working with both sides of politics.
She said she remained keen to work with both sides of parliament, and focus on continuing her work.
Neil said the comment was “wrong and sloppy”.
