Woman deported for smuggling pork into Australia

A Vietnamese woman has had her visa cancelled after she failed to declare more than 4.5 kilograms of pork.
Biosecurity officers turned away the 45-year-old from Sydney International Airport after 10kg of squid, quail and uncooked pork products were found in her luggage.
She is the first person to have her visitor’s visa cancelled under the government’s new bio-security laws.

“This disease will wipe out every pig.
“Unfortunately, it can now come in through either people’s luggage, when they’re bringing in meat, or even on their clothing if they don’t declare that they’ve been in a country that has African swine fever.”
