‘What gives?’: Displaced business owner’s call to arms to save Dockside

Another Dockside Marina business owner has spoken up after being served an eviction notice that will leave him with nowhere to go.

Brisvegas Cruises owner Barrie Coonan yesterday told Breakfast with Neil Breen 11 businesses are being ejected from Dockside Marina.

The state government is enforcing a clause in the marina’s lease forbidding commercial activities, despite initially encouraging the businesses’ relocation.

With no commercial facilities available on the Brisbane River, it’s landed the businesses in a state of limbo with nowhere else to go.

Now, the owner of The Prawnster has joined the call for answers.

“This is what the government and the city council have been working for: activation of the river for local residents and tourists,” Martin Brennan told Sofie Formica.

“I just don’t get why we are where we are but it’s really serious.

“I just ask your listeners if they’ve visited, and we’ve had thousands and thousands of people, just email Scott Stewart … and just say ‘What gives?’.”
