Authorities seize record $7 million worth of drugs
The second-largest haul of liquid ecstasy in Australian history has been stopped from hitting the streets of Sydney.
A joint Federal Police and Border Force operation has resulted in the seizure of 2,000 litres of the drug GBL, which was concealed in barrels of car washing shampoo.
A 30-year-old Warwick Farm man has been arrested and charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of illicit drugs, which carries a life sentence if convicted.
Australian Border Force regional commander for NSW, Tim Fitzgerald, says the drug known as “coma in a bottle” is incredibly dangerous.
“The fact we’ve seen two tonnes stopped before it could reach the community is a significant victory.”
