Treasurer Scott Morrison accuses Labor of stealing through new tax plan
Treasurer Scott Morrison accuses Labor of wanting to “steal” from pensioners and self-funded retirees through its new tax plan.
Under the proposal, the Opposition would scrap cash refunds for investors who have claimed tax credits from their dividends.
The Treasurer tells Ross Greenwood the national debt can be brought down without taxing Australians.
“If they argue it’s too generous, the people they’re going to rob it from are the most vulnerable people.”
“What the Labor party has proposed today is that they’re going to strip away the tax refund of people on low incomes, pensioners and self-funded retirees for the credits that they’re entitled to.
“That is just completely and utterly unfair.”
