A three-year-old girl has been left with serious head and neck injuries after she was mauled by a dog on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services rushed to a Yatala home just before 5.30 yesterday afternoon, where they found the girl with multiple injuries to her head and neck.

It’s the third dog attack this week in Queensland.

Specialist dog trainer Craig Murray told Luke Bradnam it doesn’t matter what breed of dog is around children, “the responsibility is always there”.

“People always think a big dog or a certain breed [is worse] but I’ve been doing this a long, long time and … the one thing I can tell you from experience is any dog that has not had the right things done with it or has some behavioural issues, … they can be narky.

“Not every dog is going to be nice, not every dog is going to understand the situation they’re in at the time, so reading dogs is more important.”
