An Australian food technology company has made a breakthrough that could turn the dairy industry on its head.

Naturo claims it’s “the biggest breakthrough in the global milk industry since pasteurisation in 1864”.

The Queensland-based business has secured the global patent for a process which keeps milk fresh for 60 days.

Not long-life milk. Fresh milk, chilled in your fridge for a minimum of 60 days.

And, Naturo claims it’s healthier than normal pasteurised milk, retaining higher levels of essential vitamins.

CEO Jeff Hastings tells Alan Jones it will allow Aussie dairy farmers to export their milk to the world, while avoiding expensive air freight costs.

“We can move our milk to the four corners of the planet by sea.

“The commercials around that are expensive and provide a good opportunity for Australian milk.”

He says the next step finding investmentĀ for a pilot plant in Australia, capable of producing 10 million litres of milk per year.
