A police officer accused of making sexist and misogynistic comments has sensationally gone back on leave after quietly returning to work this week.

Chief Superintendent Ray Rohweder was named as one of two senior officers who made lewd comments at a police leadership conference in allegations made at a recent inquiry into the QPS.

It’s alleged he made a joke that a colleague had to perform sexual acts on their female boss in order to get a promotion.

Mr Rohweder earlier this year agreed to temporarily step aside form his usual role in the road policing unit.

While he returned to work this week in a non-public-facing research role, it was short-lived, with confirmation he’s now back on leave, as of November 9.

It comes after Police Minister Mark Ryan agreed the embattled officer should resign.

“I think his remarks and conduct is totally inconsistent with the values of the Queensland Police Service,” he said.

“There’s also an obligation here for the individual concerned to consider his position.

“He needs to think about whether his conduct and comments are consistent with the values of the Queensland Police Service.

“I’ll give him a hint: They’re not, and I think he should do the honourable thing and take appropriate action.”

It’s understood the Police Commissioner is still seeking legal advice over the matter.
