Race to free whale trapped in Gold Coast shark nets

Rescue crews have successfully freed a whale trapped in shark nets near Currumbin.
The animal, which is believed to be a young calf, was initially reported to authorities by local beachgoers earlier this morning.
It comes after the state government last month returned shark nets to beaches after hazardous weather conditions.
It’s the seventh entanglement during this whale migration season, with two months still to go.
