Firefighters and volunteers continue to battle about 60 fires burning across Queensland with more than 20 properties destroyed.

Bushfire warnings have been downgraded but there are still concerns around fires at Binna Burra in the Gold Coast hinterland and at Stanthorpe-Applethorpe on the Granite Belt.

Opposition leader Deb Frecklington was at the scene of the fires at the Scenic Rim and tells Ray Hadley the weather conditions aren’t providing any relief.

“These fires have just been devastating. It’s just so dry, the ground’s crackling.

“My heart goes out to everyone that has lost their homes.

“The most important thing is that people are aware that it is happening and that they listen to the authorities.”
