Prime Minister insists government isn’t divided on climate policy

The Prime Minister has defended his government’s policy on climate change in the wake of devastating bushfires.
He was forced to clarify his position after Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said Australia must “absolutely” increase its efforts to tackle climate change.
Scott Morrison tells Mark Levy the government’s policy has not changed and insists the Coalition leadership is still on the same page.
“We’re saying the same thing.
“Our existing policies have increased efforts. We’re going to beat our commitments that we made for 2020.
“I’m following, with my deputy prime minister, a responsible path on this. I’m not going to adopt the policies that destroy people’s jobs or turn our back on traditional industries.
“That won’t cool the globe a celsius. All it’ll do is make the livelihoods of Australians more challenging.”
