Pressure builds as Premier continues to dodge Trad questions

The Premier is under increasing pressure to come clean on a number of questions around the legal proceedings involving her former deputy.

Jackie Trad has launched a second legal case to keep the findings of a Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) report into her conduct under wraps.

The probe began on May 9, 2020, investigating potential misuse of power by Ms Trad in the selection of a principal for a newly-constructed school in her electorate.

While the then-deputy premier was ultimately cleared of any corrupt behaviour, the investigation is believed to have contributed to Ms Trad losing her seat at the 2020 state election.

Annastacia Palaszczuk has this week dodged fresh questions around whether she knew a second indemnity application would be provided to Ms Trad, and the price tag of legal proceedings.

“It is an important issue for transparency and the Queensland public and everyone being able to know what’s actually going on,” Nine News journalist Tim Arvier told Mark Levy.

Arvier noted while the CCC cleared Ms Trad of any corrupt behaviour, it may have found other activity, “which … [may be] detrimental or may not be very good governance at all”.
