It looks like 2018 will bring with it some interesting new motoring product – SUV’s continue to enjoy strong growth and remain in strong demand and several new models have enormous promise. Alfa Romeo, fresh from finally lifting sales last year from a very low base with its new Giulia sedan will launch their much awaited Stelvio SUV around mid-year. The Italian sports car brand launches its first SUV mid-year – strikingly good looking with traditional triangulated grille the flagship Stelvio QV arrives with the same potent 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo engine from the Giulia sedan linked to an eight-speed auto and all-wheel- drive. Around the same time fellow Italian brand Lamborghini will give us their first SUV, the Urus with 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 – I saw the prototype at Pebble Beach several years ago and this really is a stunner. The Lamborghini Urus arrives with a $400,000 sticker price – performance is just as breathtaking – 0 to 100km/hour in just 3.6 seconds. I’m David Berthon
