The bee population revitalises after bushfire season
The summer bushfires decimated the NSW and Victorian bee population. Over 2.5 billion bees were lost, putting the honey industry at risk, and threatening the multibillion-dollar horticulture industry. Crops like almonds, avocados and blueberries, are entirely reliant on bee pollination. NSW Apiarists Association president Stephen Targett told the Two Murrays that the industry is being revived thanks to the help of beekeepers Australia-wide.
