Surf lifesavers across southeast Queensland have been run off their feet over the Easter long weekend pulling more than 160 from the surf.

What is especially frustrating for lifesavers is that all but a handful of those needing help were swimming outside the flags.

Jacob Thomson from Surf Life Saving Queensland tells Mark it’s always expected that there will be some rescues, but the number was very disappointing.
