New mums driving Chinese baby formula boom

Word of mouth advertising is driving an Australian baby formula boom in China.

Bubs Australia had a record breaking final quarter of the 2019 financial year, recording a revenue of more than $18 million, which exceeded total revenue for 2017/18.

Founder and Chief Executive Kristy Carr told Macquarie National News Rural Reporter Eddie Summerfield, alot of the growth is being driven by Chinese-Australian mums.

“Their friends and family and customers back home in China are asking them about particular brands Australian mums are feeding their children.”

Infant formula sales for the quarter were up 341 percent on the corresponding period for 2018.

“The core growth driver behind that growth was really our Bubs goat milk infant formula line, which more than tripled in sales verses the prior corresponding period in quarter four last year.”
