Mazda’s latest generation SUV, the CX-60, arrives here for testing

Mazda Australia has initiated a local test program for its new generation CX-60
SUV due to go on sale here and other world markets in the first half of next year.
Two pre-production models are currently undergoing comprehensive on road
assessments and analysis with Australia chosen for its validation process
because of our harsh climatic and driving conditions. The five-seat CX-60 will
likely be offered as an upmarket compliment to the CX-5 SUV, much like the
current CX-30 is to the smaller CX-3. Sitting on new rear and all-wheel drive
architecture the CX-60 will be offered in straight six-cylinder petrol and diesel
powertrains plus a plug-in hybrid. Riding on a 2870 mm wheelbase it will be
slightly wider and longer to the current CX-5. The Mazda CX-60 cabin has a more
upmarket appearance, a raised centre console and a rather elegance premium
fascia and dashboard. I’m David Berthon.
