The Kia Cerato is our fifth best-selling small car – not bad considering that for the last six months Kia Australia could not get supply of the hatchback version of its all new model. The new Cerato hatch has just joined the sedan in five grades including a potent GT – drive-away prices running from $19,990 to $31,990. . I’m yet to drive the new hatch or the sporty GT however the sedan is a very polished and roomy package, the 2.0-litre engine no fire breather but does a workmanlike job, the GT hatch on the other hand gaining a 1.6-litre 150kW turbo engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission featuring paddle shifters and a sport mode. Like the sedan the Cerato hatch styling looks polished and is a cut above its station. Entry Cerato models however come with a lower four-star crash safety rating due to the differing performance of their autonomous emergency braking. Its five-star though on higher grades.
