Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the industry will be consulted about the scope and terms of reference for the Aged Care Royal Commission.

Mr Morrison says the inquiry is needed after an “alarming and disturbing” spike in elder abuse and poor standards at aged care facilities.

The Aged Care Guild represents eight of the country’s biggest private providers and CEO Matthew Richter tells Mark the industry welcomes the probe.
