How to keep your home safe amid rise in lithium battery fires
The Queensland Fire Department has seen an increase in the number of lithium-ion battery fires over recent years.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Executive Manager of State Fire Safety, Mark Halverson told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “If people buy a quality product from a reputable retailer and follow the manufacturer’s instructions at all times, the risk of fire is actually quite low.”
“But it’s when people deviate from any of those, and undertake any other unsafe practices, that risk increases drastically and may result in a substantial fire or in some instances, an explosive fire,” Halverson continued.
