Honda’s ZR-V Hybrid SUV – Fuel efficient flagship
Driving Honda’s new mid-sized ZR-V SUV today, that fits between the HR-V and
the latest larger CR-V launched a few weeks back. The ZR-V, a five-seater, in four
models, three 1.5-litre turbo pure petrol and one 2.0-litre petrol/electric hybrid.
Driveaway prices start at $40,200 and run to $54,900 for the hybrid which I’m
driving today and is somewhat expensive, All models share the same body – the
interior not overly spacious the rear seat area limited by a high floor and low seat
base which reduces under thigh support and can become uncomfortable on
longer trips. This aside the cabin has some really nice features, the hybrid getting
an individual push button gear selector on a two-level central console that’s
innovative and different. The Honda ZR-V hybrid very highly equipped and
doesn’t miss out in terms of driving features nor comfort and convenience
equipment. My only gripe, the lack of any spare wheel due to the rear mounted
battery pack – a tyre repair kit today is simply inadequate otherwise the hybrid
gets the works including full leather trim and wants for little except one omission
– power heated front seats but no height adjustment on the passenger seat which
Mrs. Berthon bitterly complained of. Drive impressions next segment.
