“Got to start making consequences’: Student violence drives teachers out

Dean Miller

Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek has disclosed that there were 5741 reported incidents of occupational violence and aggression in the first school term of 2025.

Teachers Professional Association Queensland President Scott Stanford told Dean Miller on 4BC Breakfast, “There are some children who will have on their profile, 10 or 12 incidents where they’ve done the wrong thing.”

“They know they’re not going to get into trouble, or at worst, they’re going to get a week’s holiday at home, where the parents will go to work.”

“So, we’ve got to start making consequences,” Mr Stanford said.
