Peter Fegan

On the show: Feegs is back to round up your weekend. QLD Premier Steven Miles announced this week that the government would reduce public transport fares to 50c for all QLD travellers from August 5. We hear from Robert Dow who works for Rail Back on Track, one of the authorities on public transport in this state, who unpacks this announcement and we hear plenty of listener feedback from workers and commuters alike.

Nine News Chief Political Editor Charles Croucher joins Feegs for the Sunday Breakdown, covering everything from the frosty relations between President Donald Trump and former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to the recently announced social media reforms for young kids. On the topic of social media, 60 Minutes reporter Adam Hegarty calls in ahead of tonight’s program to preview his story on how social media is ‘Messing with Minds’ – particularly that of young people.

Dementia Australia’s Executive Director of Services, Advocacy and Research Dr Kaele Stokes joins Peter to talk about the Brisbane Memory Walk and Jog event happening today that aims to raise  $156,000 for dementia research.
NRMA Insurance Executive Claims Manager Natalie Major joins Peter to tell us about their latest initiative ‘Help Nation’, in partnership with the Australian Red Cross, which will offer workshops aiming to prepare people better for extreme weather events.

We also hear a couple of positive stories from local Brisbane residents too. Firsty, an update from Kallangur resident Paula Siebel, whose husband Ian was killed after Manpreet Singh Brar crashed into them while speeding and unlicensed. Paula shares a recent breakthrough on the case and her experiences within the legal process throughout this case.
Secondly, we hear from local Toowong resident Simon Hales who has put up signage around his area to help keep a family of local curlews safe, after the male curlew was euthanized after sustaining injuries from a vehicle hit. Simon updates us on how the family are doing.

4BC Sports Reporter Sam Leckie provides an extensive update from all of the weekend sport action. PLUS we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
