Peter Fegan

On the show: On his final day at the Ekka, Feegs rounds up all of the action.

More Ekka faces stop by the 4BC stage. RNA Chief Executive Brendan Christou joins to reflect on this year’s Ekka and, in breaking news, reveals that Ekka will not take place in its current format during the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. We also hear from Ekka Dagwood Dog Eating champion James Webb (aka JWebby) who tells us more about his world records and staying match fit; and Dougie’s Donuts owen Grant Pettigrew talks about the benefits of Ekka for his small business.

It’s been a big week in news, with Feegs covering the passing of renowned racehorse Black Cavier and former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s “party house” antics as the Australian Ambassador to the USA.

It’s also been a big week politically. For the Sunday Breakdown, Feegs is joined by retired Australian Special Forces Commando and 20 year veteran, Wes Hennessey. From former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s $15,000 BBQ, another dingo attack on K’gari and plans for a new Olympic Precinct in Brisbane.Wes gives his insights into the big issues and also marks Vietnam Veteren’s Day with a special acknowledgement of all those who served.

Elsewhere on the show: Cricket legend Ian Healy provides comment on Cricket Australia’s confirmation that The Gabba will not host a Test match in 2026-27 – a 50-year first. This comes after back and forth on the future of the stadium, and whether a new stadium should be built in the lead up to the Olympics.

Champion racehorse Winx is set to be the subject of a new documentary, and co-owner Peter Tighe joins Feegs to discuss her story so far, what we can expect from the doco and what’s next for the mighty mare.

In Local issues today: Fire Ants are an invasive species that pose a serious threat to our environment, agriculture and even public safety. However, a group of local residents have launched legal action against the state government against this program, citing potential danger to domestic pets and a lack of a proper environmental impact study being conducted. Program Executive Director For The National Fire Ant Eradication, Ashley Bacon, joins Feegs to discuss the matter further and what exactly is involved in the eradication process. We also hear from residents and National leader David Littleproud weighs in on the conversation.

PLUS: 4BC Sports Report Sam Leckie provides an extensive update on the weekend action, and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
