David Johnson: Legacy of a 1950s Empire Games gold medallist

David Johnson met Usain Bolt, the fastest runner in the world, but David actually has more medals than him.

Back at the 1950 Auckland Empire Games, Mr Johnson won gold and silver medals in the four by 100 yard relay and 200 yard sprint.

At only 18 years of age, Mr Johnson could barely hear for two days after landing, because of the noise made by the DC-4 plane which carried them across the ditch.
