Citroen Centenary – local importer introduces a milestone SUV

French car maker Citroen celebrates its Centenary this year and last weekend at the Rocks at Circular Quay it celebrated Bastille Day and the Bastille Fest with the release of its C5 AirCross SUV – in my segments tomorrow I review what is without doubt the best product to come from Citroen for some time. Importantly, the local importer Inchcape has finally come out of hiding to give the French brand some exposure – and with the C3 and larger C5 AirCross SUV’s it has some excellent new product. In the past we’ve had some quirky product from Citroen but these new age SUV’s are right up there with the best – clever designs with real character, different yes but really practical – as the local MD put it – Citroen will be seen as the decadent choice for those seeking independent artistic style and effortless class leading features. However, with just 51 sales last month Citroen can no longer be just seen as different, they need to offer a competitive product and the C3 and C5 AirCross do just that. I’m David Berthon
