China Vs Australia’s lack of self-reliance

Mike Jeffreys

Senator Jim Molan AO, Liberal Senator for NSW & Former Australian Army Major General, joins Michael regarding the need for Australia’s self-reliance amidst China’s continued economic attack which now includes a doctored tweet showing an Aussie soldier slitting the throat of a young Afghan girl.

It shows China has swooped to a new low, particularly for a regime that continually struggles with the truth… including their 31 year effort to lie to their own people over Tiananmen Square.

It’s a low blow, but it should also reinforce the pressing need in Canberra to double-down on the ability for Australia to be more self-reliant and less dependent on a Communist regime.

First it was barley, then lobster and coal.  Students were warned not to return to Australia and now they have slapped steep tariffs on Aussies wine exports.  China is making it very clear that having roped Australia in over decades with a unique form of debt-trap diplomacy, that they are willing to flex their muscle if we don’t play by their rules.

Surely if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s the need to resurrect our strategic industries and to have the government support them if they face economic pressures. Without having these industries, we will become ever more vulnerable to overseas threats.
