Buy-back Scheme and what it means for Lismore locals

John Stanley

A scheme to buy back people’s houses in flood-hit Lismore will only target hundreds of homes, not the thousands as initially thought.

An independent report into the floods is yet to be released by the state government. The report recommends a buy-back scheme to help move affected homeowners.

John Stanley speaks to Steve Kreig, Mayor of Lismore, about how Lismore residents have been waiting up to five months to know the results of this report which will ultimately hold the answers to their future.

Steve highlights how people live in fear and how the toll of this natural disaster will be long-lasting on locals mental health.
