Bentley unveils the future of grand touring – the zero emission EXP100 GT

I spoke last weekend of Bentley’s Centenary on Wednesday and the reveal by the company of the future of grand touring with a special zero emission concept car the EXP 100 GT. There’s concept cars and concept cars but this special Bentley concept is a striking car – sleek yet muscular – long at 5.8 metres, wide at 2.4 metres but no lightweight at 1900kgs despite the fact it has an aluminium and carbon-fibre body. The body highlights include an illuminated matrix grill and famous flying B Mascot. The powertrain – four electric motors produce a massive 1500 Nm of torque – and a top speed of 300Km/hour. And acceleration: 0 to 100km/hour in just 2.5 seconds. Who said electric cars aren’t quick. Charging – it takes 15 minutes to charge the batteries, but Bentley doesn’t tell us how, to 80 percent with a range of 700 kilometres while an on-board Bentley personal assistant maximizes comfort by monitoring the occupant’s well-being. I’m David Berthon.
