Aussie Workers Face Highest Stress in APAC

Phil O'Neil

Australians report the highest stress levels in APAC, with an average of 12 stress episodes per week, according to ADP’s People at Work 2024 Report.

Over half (57%) believe stress negatively affects their job performance. Despite growing awareness around workplace mental health, especially during World Mental Health Month 2024, many workplaces struggle to support their employees adequately, leading to productivity losses and mental health concerns.

SafeWork NSW warns that rising stress impacts worker health, resulting in absenteeism and turnover.

The Black Dog Institute cites work pressure, harassment, and workplace violence as top stress factors, while the WHO notes that good well-being management can boost performance by over 2.5 times.

Judy Barnett, Operations Director at ADP Australia, tells Clinton, “while many Australian businesses continue to prioritise the mental well-being of their employees, our data shows that there is still room for improvement.”
