5m people now call Queensland home but can they all fit?

Queensland’s population has officially hit the 5 million mark four years earlier than predicted.

In the last year 50,000 migrated to the sunshine state, 19,000 from interstate – 30,800 from overseas.

In the next 25 years 5.3 million are expected to live in south-east Queensland which would require an extra 800,000 dwellings.

With 32,000 new units, townhouses and homes needed every year what will Brisbane look like? – Kirsty Chesser-Brown from Urban Development Institute says get used to high diversity housing.
