Businesses are calling for action from governments to help find solutions for the tight labour market and cost-of-living pressures.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland’s latest Pulse survey has painted a dire picture for Queensland businesses and another gloomy 12 months.

79 per cent have said they’re struggling to find enough people to apply for jobs.

83 per cent reported higher operating costs.

Policy and advocacy manager at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland, Cherie Josephson, says the survey has shown businesses owners are copping record highs for operating costs and labour costs.

“What this research shows is that business are not immune to the cost of living conversation that we are having and impacting household as well, the cost challenges are many and it’s really impacting on  business viability and profitability,” she told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.

She said businesses are looking to get creative amid the labour and skills shortage.
