Parent defends Citipointe Christian college despite ‘archaic’ contract
Sofie Formica says a controversial contract sent out to parents of students at a Brisbane Christian college is “archaic”.
A revised enrolment contract was sent out to families of the Citipointe Christian College to sign late on Friday.
“Homosexual acts” are denounced in the contract.

Education Minister Grace Grace, who has a non-binary child, yesterday said it was distressing.
“How is it helpful to ask families and students to sign a contract that demands all students identify with their birth gender and that all parents accept its condemnation of homosexuality as a sin?” Sofie questioned.
“I think it’s discriminatory, I think it’s archaic, and I really hope that it doesn’t reflect the mindset of a modern Australian community, one that is inclusive.
“I really hope it doesn’t set a precedent for other religious schools, and that many others follow.”

During the show, a mother of a student at the college called in to defend the college’s principal and school community.
Karen, whose son is starting Year 12 told Sofie she had read and signed the contract.
“[Principal] Pastor Brian Mulheran would never expel a student because they are gay or because they are transgender, there’s no way he would. And no one has ever been expelled for that reason.”
