Paralympian says ministerial name change for Premier the right call

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has vowed to change her title to become the Minster for the Olympics and Paralympic Games, after a push by Paralympics Australia.
It comes after a frustrated Paralympics Australia Athletes’ Commission penned an open letter to the Premier, asking for the change, after ongoing discussions.
Paralympians have asked me to add ‘Paralympics’ to my title. I’m happy to do that and it will be changed by the end of the year.

Paralympian Curtis McGrath is a member of the Athletes Commission.
He said they were confused when the Premier was unveiled as only the Minister for Olympics.
“It’s been a lot of dialogue, a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, and understanding who makes the decision and why,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.
“To be honest we never really came up with a legitimate answer, until we realised that there wasn’t really an answer, it was just more digging in the heels.
“But as the Athletes Commission we do really appreciate the consideration of the title change, it’s all about inclusion and a society of inclusion, and the Paralympics and the Olympic Games working hand in hand is all about that.”
