Optus compensates thousands with slow NBN

Optus will compensate 8,700 customers for slower-than-expected NBN speeds.

This follows last week’s release from telecommunications giant Telstra who announced it will compensate 42,0000 customers after pressure from the ACCC.

Ross Greenwood speaks with Mark Gregory, Associate Professor at RMIT University about where the faults are in this rollout.

“They haven’t done any line tests to individual connections to homes.

“What that means is that they’ve got a lot of technical problems in this network.

“They’re trying to connect people up to a network that’s not fit for purpose.

“The government is under such pressure to meet it’s 2019 deadline, because it’s already failed on the 2016 deadline, it’s been trying to rush everything.”
