NDIS Minister steps in for family as third generation is struck by MND
A family is one step closer to receiving the disability support it needs after the newly-minted NDIS Minister stepped in.
Friends of Robyn Forrester contacted The Ray Hadley Morning Show after her 39-year-old son, Jay’s, health rapidly deteriorated following a motor neurone disease diagnosis.
Ms Forrester yesterday told Ray Hadley the disease has already struck down her husband, Mark, and his father.
She said the family needs help renovating the house to give Jay wheelchair access.
“I know people are so busy with their everyday life, with their own problems, but the NDIS would be so beneficial at this time,” she said.
“I’m just so sad living this nightmare again.”

Ray promised Robyn he would “do the best we can” and enlist the help of Bill Shorten, who was recently appointed the NDIS Minister.
“Well, I know there are protocols with the NDIS – and I’ve spoken here about the abuse of the NDIS and people being prosecuted – but when we have someone in dire circumstances needing modifications to be made so he can just exist, we need to do something about it,” he said.
“Not next week, not next month, today; we need to do something immediately.”
He was pleased to provide an update this morning that Mr Shorten has arranged for Ms Forrester’s family to be contacted by the NDIS this morning.
