‘It’s all very cosy’: Pressure builds for Qld inquiry into under-fire casino operator
The state is under pressure to stage an inquiry into Star Entertainment, after a lobbyist behind the Premier’s re-election was revealed to be working for the gambling company.
Queensland is one of the only states in the country not to have held an inquiry into its major casino operator in recent years.
The ongoing inquiry into Star’s Sydney casino has heard evidence of money-laundering, bank fraud, which led to a recommendation it be stripped of its NSW licence.
Meanwhile, a number of ALP-linked figures are “swirling around” the Queen’s Wharf development in Queensland.
“It’s all very cosy if you ask me,” Neil Breen said.
“I think it’s time for the Queensland government to stage its own inquiry into Star just so they can not only be above board but totally look like they’re above board.”
