How Amy Sheppard is finding her own sound as a solo artist

Carla Bignasca

Amy Sheppard is stepping on-stage at the Ekka solo this evening with a sound unfamiliar to that of the band she shares with her siblings.

The singer, songwriter is best known for her vocals in Sheppard, the pop group behind such hits as Geronimo and Coming Home but is taking a step toward country.

“I guess it’s learning who I am as an artist without my siblings,” she told Sofie Formica on her solo endeavours.

“I’m calling it country pop, because it’s very much still me.

“I come from the pop world originally but I’ve always had that little bit of country influence from the way I learned to song-write.”
