Group behind ‘cruel’ slaughter of brumby herd all but confirmed

Ray Hadley is confident he’s confirmed who is responsible for wiping out an entire brumby herd in Kosciuszko National Park.
An entire herd of 11 horses, including a number of heavily-pregnant mares, were left to slowly bleed to death after an on-foot shooting believed to have occurred last Sunday.
While it has been widely suspected NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) was behind the slaughter, the department has not openly admitted responsibility.
Ray has been informed by a number of locals that police in Tumut were aware a brumby cull was to take place this Sunday, which would indicate it was a sanctioned cull.
While police have not confirmed any knowledge of the incident, their response has made Ray “even more suspicious”.
“NSW Police are aware of the Kosciuszko National Park Wild Horse Heritage Management Plan and any further inquiries should be directed to the NPWS,” a police spokesperson said.
It’s all the evidence Ray needed to confirm the “urban myth” circulating in towns near Kosciuszko National Park.
“Police have not started an investigation to find the shooters, given that it was done legally by NPWS,” he deduced.
